The Duke of Wellington is a pub on Balls Pond Road in Hackney, near the border with Islington. It is a 4 minute walk from Dalston Junction and part of De Beauvoir Town conservation area. It reopened in April 2009 under new management following a refurbishment. It is open from 3pm until late Monday-Friday, from 11am for Saturday brunch and 12noon for Sunday Roasts. We serve fresh locally-sourced food, stock a wide range of real ales and cider, with at least 4 real ales on at a time. We have an extensive range of single malts, American bourbon, and rums. We have free wi-fi, a function room available for hire, a film night and big screen sports. The pub dates from the 1840s.

COFFEE

With our much loved La Marzocco espresso machine, we offer an extensive menu of espresso based coffees. We use coffee exclusively from East London’s Climpson & Sons because we love the fact that they are a small, independent company run by enthusiasts, based right here in Hackney. They import and roast their own beans and have remained at the forefront of the coffee industry since their founding in 2005 by fostering the latest techniques and individually hand roasting a range of quality coffees at their London Fields roastery, a mile from the Duke. Do visit the Climpson & Sons website for more about the history of the company and their seasonal blends.

TEA

Not only do we do a top notch builders brew, we also stock a changing selection of loose leaf teas that we buy direct from Tim D’Offay at Mayfair’s Postcard Teas including a choice of black and green teas, oolongs, spiced and scented teas.
